                      THE BLACKWOOD HOTEL

 

HISTORY

The Blackwood Hotel, established in 1868 is the last remaining hotel that serviced miners on the Blackwood goldfields when some 13,000 miners populated the area. It is believed that during the gold rush period the cellar, like those of many hotels of the period, was used as a makeshift morgue.

GHOSTS OF THE BLACKWOOD HOTEL

*Hotels kitchen is haunted by the ghost of Laura Dalton, who burned to death at the hotel in the 1940's

*The ghost of on old caretaker named Frederick (nicknamed the "night stalker", as he is seen wandering around in the early hours of the morning) is said to haunt room 3, downstairs near the hotel's former morgue.

*The ghost of an old miner who sits on a box near the fireplace
